Canterbury Cathedral in the Spring Sunshine

About an hour ago I was sitting high on Dane John

Reading To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf

My edition was illustrated by a detail from a painting by Laura Knight

On the Edge of the Cliff showed a young woman staring into the blue sea below

I could not see the sea from my height but knew it to be near

As the air was fresh and bright as it always is near to the coast

I am looking along a narrow cobbled lane

At the tower of Canterbury Cathedral

So golden in the light of a new season

How lovely this pilgrims city is today

She is so full of unconditional love
