Haunt of the Screech Gulls

I found you fully dressed on a scruffy settee in the cabin

Swimming is one of my passions

And I often use the centre’s private pool

Before the day starts

Perhaps I might drown

But I am strong swimmer

So I have my doubts

I often invite you to swim with me

So that I might see your breasts

But you decline

Instead we have adopted a stray cat

Which we call

Scenes of a Sexual Nature

I do not wake up naturally

As I am awoken by the screech gulls

We went to the beach today

As you had asked to swim

I covered my eyes with a Bible as you changed

As I had no desire to see your breasts

After we had finished our swim

We lay in the sun together

And decided to compose a poem

We called it

The End of the World

I am at a fashion show in France

I was not invited

I stumbled on the event

I am taking notes

I have been asked to leave

I am in a long passageway

It is full of jumble for a forthcoming sale

For an hour I help the organisers

And am given a soft clown as a reward

And then I find myself alone in a railway station

I have no money so I cannot travel

I give the soft clown to an infant

The family invites me to travel with them

And buys me a breakfast before we leave

We are all travelling to London as they are my neighbours
