On the platform at Island Gardens
Sandrena-Sandrena was writing a poem
It was called
First Class Hieronymus
Suddenly a man kissed her on the cheek as he boarded a train
His name was Mitchell and he was visiting the Cutty Sark
Sandrena-Sandrena ran after the train through the platform puddles
But the shoal fish
Pencil thin
Nibbled ferociously
At her bare feet
And stopped her
Nearby a small boy in a wretched pullover sang
Climb, climb the clippers mast
The day is long
And the sea is vast
His sister who was wearing a floral dress also sang
Tea, tea, chests of tea
Tea for you
But not for me
As there were no further trains that day Sandrena-Sandrena found a vacant seat and completed the poem she was writing
