The Rainbow Bicycle

In my dream we had been parted

Through no fault of our own

This happens often in dreams

I was worried about you

And then I found a bicycle

A rainbow bicycle abandoned

Next to a tree and an abandoned fence

I borrowed this bicycle

As I wanted to find you

But as soon as I was aboard

I descended rapidly into the valley

A valley obscured by clouds

I found myself by the main gate

Of a large railway goods yard

To my right expresses thundered by

To the dark cities one and two

A porter greeted me and took my bicycle

Into the nesting rooms three and four

I was assured that it would be secure

In the distance a small shunting locomotive

Was being loaded on to a flat back lorry

It looked ill balanced to me and soon fell to the ground

The porter assured me that this was a common occurrence

Near the low fence a table had been set out for guests

This appealed to me as I loved fast trains cherry red

And liked to be near them as they screamed through stations

The porter and I sat a the maroon table and soon

We were joined by a female scientist of mellow years

She explained to me that if we were positioned two metres

From our occupation that our loves would be in danger

And that we would never live and produce future drivers

As she finished her sentence a purple bullet train screamed by

And for an instant I thought I saw you in carriage sic

I recognised your red print dress giverny green blue

You were also not wearing any underwear as you

Felt that it restricted you when visiting the fifth cities

But I had only spoken to you in a previous dream

And this confused me as when I had left you

The wind had been cool and you were wearing

Lavender scented panties and an octopus bra

We enjoyed our tea and watched the rapid trains

I was then taken on a conducted tour of the goods yard

It had seen better days and in parts was dilapidated

But there was a swimming pool and a coloured box

Which made up for some of the dereliction

I was told to close my eyes as I walked along

The six mile corridor left and right

When my visual freedom was restored

I was in the most splendid tea room in the universe

It was populated by people posh and the people pewter

My only question was why with all this neglect

Could such a tea room exist and obviously thrive

And then I was on the rainbow bicycle one more

I was cycling towards the seventh hill which was very steep

Its gradient troubled me as it was almost sheer

But I was not alarmed as the bicycle started to float

And soon very soon I was at the flop top summit clear

You were waiting for me in your eighth dress

I asked you about your underwear and you slapped me

And told me that I should not discuss intimate items

When in mixed company and especially in the presence of shunting engines

I explained that I had missed you and was very worried about you

You then responded with a kiss and suggested that we should ride tandem

On the rainbow bicycle which I had found abandoned in my ninth dream
