Margate Poems

Green Clock Face

Shiny shiny metallic green

Your hands sweep away time with ease

I will not wind you up today

As I wish to curtail your journey

The Nayland Rock Shelter

I would like to think that you are cherished

But I spot drunks and other debris slouched within your womb

They only look inwards and are terrified at what they see

Were they ever children created in love?

Quite why they exist is a mystery to me

You too are within a womb

A womb illuminated by the sea and the brilliant sky

Safe from the jeremiads of the mortal
