I have a painting of a hanged man

Of the wall of my main bedroom

I believe that the artist was English

Although I purchased the work in Spain

It appears to be that of a solitary suicide

Inside of what looks to be an ancient barn

It might have been a bankrupt farmer

Or of  a young boy disappointed in love

I will never know the true story behind the painting

But its pain is there for all to see
