Many years ago I watched a movie at an arts festival

It was called Brief Crossing and was directed by Catherine Breillat

In short it was about a young French man who meets an older English woman

They connect and end up making love as the ferry travels from France to England

 

In my youth I quite frequently travelled

To France and back on these ferries

But this never happened to me

As I was always on deck watching my England fade

 

I now live on the coast and can clearly see the ferries crossing

They seem to glide across the silver sea in all weathers

What brief dramas are being played out I wonder

If any at all as for most life is by its very nature is rather predictable
