I wonder what possessed someone to write this and place it in a bottle
It is obviously from a mature hand
In a way there is something obvious in the writing

I was bored Anna

I was in Ramsgate and the people were not very beautiful on the day of my visit
So I purchased a bottle of pop and composed the first thing that entered my head
I then consigned it to the sea if anything as an act of rebellion against the ugliness that I was witnessing that day
Ramsgate is on the whole beautiful but it was the day trippers that were spoiling it and this saddened me
As without beauty the world is nothing
I chose a spider and a fly as they are obvious opposites

I only threw the bottle into the sea on Tuesday
And it has travelled so quickly from Ramsgate
I am not an expert but I am told that there are unusual currents in this area

But it is the mathematics of chance that fascinate me greatly
That is to say that one Anna in a moment of despair released a message in a bottle
And that another Anna who she loves dearly finds the said bottle six days later
