I spent my childhood in Japan
A European boy in another country
I was made to feel welcome by my fellows
And became much fascinated by their culture
But my one lasting memory now quite small
Was waiting for my school train on spring days
And watching the pastel pink and white blossom
Fall gently from the luxury trees
As my sleek grey train came into view
