Sea Song

I chose to live by the sea

So that I might enjoy

Periods of reflection and thought

But if anything my life became busier

I had nearly finished my fifth book

But could not decide on an ending

That was until the day I met

Amanda Birdcircle

Who was a guest at a nearby wedding

She sat next to me on the harbour wall

And asked me whether I was a fisherman

I had met many Amanda’s before

But one was different as she almost disliked me

We walked for a while towards The Blushing Mermaid

I told her about the new book and my problems

She said that she was a writer herself

And would write me an ending for my consideration

I was to wait two weeks and then visit Gull Cottage

This I did but she was not there although I found a note

Directing me to a cupboard at the top of the stairs

There waiting in a pair of her black tights

Was the ending that she had promised to write

My book was published later that year

Did I use the soft words of Amanda Birdcircle

That is open to question as only two people know the answer

One lives in Chiswick and the other here by the sea
