Marie Magdalene (A handwritten poem found in a book of poetry by James Elroy Flecker) Part Two

Then answered I am Sweet Magdalene

God’s servant once beloved of men

Why did not than change old ways for new

Thy trailing red for coloured blue

The rose for ivy on thy #####

That splendour for this heaven now

Gentle of speech she answered me –

I was sick with ########

Time I have sensed the night of my sin

A pale and tawdry heroine

Yet once I heard a voice that said

Who lives in sin is like one dead

But follow thy dark eyes shall see

The towers of immortality
