Confession

I was strolling around a heritage site yesterday

When I stole a small stone from near an archbishops grave

I was told that I would be cursed for my dishonesty

And expected to be run over by a bus within the hour

But nothing happened at all I was not even vaguely punished

About an hour later I saw a delivery bicycle on the pavement

Which apart from being dangerous was obviously illegal

Within seconds the rider had collided with a homeless vagrant

And had fallen from his machine on to the road with much violence

There had been obvious injuries caused and a crowd quickly formed

I did not intercede as I was deep in thought

Was I free of the dreaded archbishops curse

Or had I passed it on to others less worthy than me

I asked God for an answer but I was told he was fishing

As Wednesday’s and Friday’s were his days off
