El Alamein

El Alamein

Two corpses lay jagged in the sand

Missing limbs their blood had run dry

But this was not noticed

By the congregation party

Who were digging their graves

Comrades

Bury me in the high light

In the soft shifting sands

Return to your children before year fall

And hold them in your hands

Shadow Soldiers

Do not flinch boys

Keep moving

Ignore me

For these sands will soon swallow

My shattered remains

But not my summoned soul
