Jesus of Bilbao

I paddled as I walked towards the art gallery

It was a warm summer’s day in autumn

The sea was a flat sandy blue in colour

I felt at peace with myself and the world

The beach was quite empty apart from thirty

Some were swimming but mainly like me

They were admiring the mirror of the sands

Everything seemed to be on the horizon and totally still

Saint Caron passed me on her sixth generous pilgrimage

We smiled in a silence that faded into the breeze

I looked into the vast skies and admired the intense light

Which was illuminating this the most special of days
