A Wet Afternoon in Scarborough

Jane and I had planned to walk to the North Bay

But at about eleven in the morning

The heavens opened with a vengeance

So we settled down to watch our small television

Modigliani

Was the movie that we chose to watch

Although we did not expect much of it

Its sadness broke our hearts and we cried

As we sometimes do when watching the sun rise

Later when the rains had passed we dined

In a small Italian restaurant not far from the Spa Bridge

I dressed as an impoverished poet and Jane my muse

After sleeping very well we awoke to a sunny morning

And later walked from the South Bay to the North Bay

It was whilst walking on the beach that I found some sea glass

Which I now keep in a decorated book of rhymes
