A Wedding Like No Other Wedding

Jane and I were sitting in front of the Guildhall in Sandwich

It is normally a rather reserved quiet location

But from inside the building loud cheers could be heard

A wedding was taking place a very informal wedding

The almost chaotic guests emerged just after the bride

Suits and pretty summer dresses were the order of the day

It may have been deliberate but this seemed a shared wedding

As the bride and groom photo posed in front of Costa Coffee

Which although rather nice was not that picturesque

People with dogs and people without dogs

Drifted in and out of shot as a nearby bus shelter filled

Visitors watched the proceedings from the church tower

And I felt that all was well with the world

The sun was slowly breaking through the clouds

But the sea winds could still be felt as they danced

Everything was rather beautiful in Sandwich

Earlier in the hour I had purchased an abalone brooch

It was neither vintage or modern

But I thought its beauty suited Jane

As the timeless colours hidden within

Reflected her radiance of her summer grey eyes
