Flash Fiction

Today is a very hot day

Too hot to walk very far

I have decided to sit on the embankment

Of a disused railway lost in time

Although pleasant it is a sad location

I am reading a book of short stories

That I recently purchased in Hythe

These were written by H.G. Wells

One in particular has taken my fancy

And I have decided to build a machine

So that I might travel back some sixty years

I would persuade the authorities

That the closure is short sighted

As the railway is still a considerable asset

Soon after I would travel back to 2024

And watch the trains pass by

Whilst reading my book
