I think it was Larkin who said

And you pass this on to your own brats

(thankfully Josie and I do not have this problem)

(two heads or maybe the odd socialist)

Well our parents certainly did not fuck us up

Everything we are is because of them

And our mother still influences us even now

Both of us are still grieving for my father

Which is only natural

But I can see what Larkin was saying

I wonder what he would have made of the disorder

It has even occurred in Hull

This was always going to happen

This country has been smoking near petrol for too long

I am only thankful that serious weapons have not been used

It was only ever going to take a spark

As the dreadful has become the new norm

Like many I am deeply ashamed of this country

I have travelled around the northern counties recently

And have quite easily sensed the resentment

That this decay has caused

People are tired of being shit upon and then having it rubbed in

The media egged on by the government is playing the blame game

Which is only making things worse

What is required is a return to basics

Very serious mistakes have been made for a number of years

Try to understand your country and what makes it tick

That is not hard is it but this polluted by malignant thought

As I have noted before this country is (and has been) run by cowards since the days of Mrs Thatcher

I do hope that things do not get out of control as that will serve no purpose

But things need to change and people need to see them change

I am currently in Henley on Thames with my dear mother

It is so calm here and no rioters can be seen

This said a small boy left his plastic coke bottle on a wooden bench

What is the world coming to I despair

And yes I will pick up the bottle as I leave and deposit it in the bin

Problem solved Henley is looking beautiful again

This lovely town is obviously doing something right

I would have liked to have met Larkin

I think we might have had an interesting conversation
