The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Hi Joe

Clive and I have just returned from the Cotswolds

What a beautiful region it is

It is so very English

This was very much a working holiday

So I had to keep up with the news

Most of it was quite dreadful

And I am not talking about Oasis reforming

Still the tickets are cheap

Yet I would feel ripped off it they were free

It has occurred to me that many of the dreadful crimes

Which are becoming all too common these days

Were not really committed by people named John Smith

Who were Cotswold born and bred

Bourton-on-the-Water

Upper Slaughter

Lower Slaughter

Broadway

Who fucking cares

I know that you track the statistics

And are perfectly aware of the hidden truths

It is a sad state of affairs that decent people

Who rely on strong government red or blue

Are betrayed in such a manner

Your home city is Bath

How I envy you

It is such a beautiful place

But it is becoming tatty on the edges

Due to weak policing and a two tier approach

In my dreams we would live in the Cotswolds

But our jobs disallow that

What can be done

Rebecca

Almost forgot

Send my love to Josie and her new friend

Clive said that he wished that you drank

There are so many great pubs in Richmond

He will make a man of you one day

My Dear Friend
