L’Odyssée de Pauline

Before she left Pauline visited her sister

Who lived next to a railway

That travelled up a hill

She lived in a splendid apartment

That faced a sea of mirrors

Who lived next to the railway

That travelled up a hill

From her bedroom

She could see where the land had moved

The town was collapsing into its beating heart

Towns often do this because they are unhappy

Her sister Pauline was a writer

She had written many successful books

Pauline had not read any of her sisters books

She thought that her sisters stories were overrated

She preferred painting the light

As it fascinated her

It made her happy

On the day of her visit

The light was white

It was often bright

Especially at night

She waited for the moon

It was due at noon

Any time soon

But would remain hidden

In the reflections of the day

Mirror mirror on the door

Who is successful

Who is the whore

As she prepared for her long journey

This question bothered Pauline

As she prepared for her long journey
