A Bedwyn Fete

When visiting Spain we were approached by a farmer proud of his golden bales

He spoke of a fete across the waters and the silver rails

Tis glorious sir the whole village turns out

Even drunken Sal

We adopt his directions

The only route to true consciousness lies in the examination of one’s own consciousness

You say to me

I tell you of my dream of changing next to a waif like girl in a football room whose lack of inhibition surprised me

She did not consider herself beautiful you know

We travel over two bridges and turn into a lane clinging to thatched cottages

Cricket is being played on a damp wicket

After surrendering alms we are embraced by the village fete

We enjoy a cake and a cup of tea

I feel guilty

I say to you

Why should I feel enjoyment?

My surroundings inspire me

The only way to escape this is to put an end to desire

I walk to the corner of the field and place my cake in the long grass

The jackdaws are already aware

Well caught sir

Well bowled

The cricket match will not reach its conclusion

Rain is close

You join me as I stroll around the fete

I purchase trinkets for you

Which you much admire

In time we leave the fete and cross the waterfields

All frogs can swim (Premise)

This is a frog (Premise)

I hand you a frog

You shudder

Therefore it can swim (Conclusion)

We release the frog

It swims in the shallow waters

Frogs can swim

If I had not seen that frog today then I would not have been able to see the creature swimming

I would have not arrived at any conclusion

Are frogs aware of pleasure? (Question)

Are we aware that we have spent a pleasurable afternoon together? (Question)

Do we feel pleasure? (Question)

What is pleasure? (Question)

We walk towards the railway station

It is beginning to rain

Frogs are mating

Why do frogs mate during the late summer months? (Question)

In chalk I write the answer on an old wooden noticeboard

It is wholly purposeless a kind of impetus which forces all living things to mate breed and die

I know that the chalk will be washed away within the hour

The only way to escape this treadmill is to put an end to desire

Our train remains stationary for quite a while

What is desire?

You ask me

I do not answer you
