critics do not exist
in my world

they have been banned
to the sewers

where they can eat shit
like the rest of us

i have been reading
a great deal

of contemporary amerikan
poetry recently

it does not inspire me
indeed i find it poor

but then again
i do not have an opinion

as i am not a critic
yet i live in the same sewer

only blocks from where they live
we sometimes even pass the time of day
