Down the Line/Ladder/Pink Motel

Down the Line

Catherine was sitting on the sweaty train

Waiting for it to depart

There was no breeze and the air was stale

As it is in the city during the summer months

In a week she would be in Cape Cod with her partner

Her parents would fuss over them

And the thought of working in the real estate office

Would be a million miles distant

Ladder

Hank was slowly descending from the tower

The Olivier sisters were on the roof below

He knew that if he turned that he might fall

So he saved their beauty for another day

Pink Motel

Sue Joe Thomas was hosing the desert dust from the car

As John Joe Thomas studied the sandy mirages nearby

They both wanted to stay at the pink motel

But they needed to be in the city by nightfall

As their parents were visiting from New York
