My neighbours purchased a beautiful puppy for their children today

This was a huge mistake as the creature will die in about ten years

Bringing a great deal of grief to their teenage lives

It is likely to be their first experience of death and this will change them forever

Better if the puppy is killed by the dustcart before it enters their hearts

 

On Saturday mornings I visit the flower market and am astonished

That so many men buy flowers for the women in their life

If I was a woman I would be quite fucked off if my man brought me flowers

That have been freshly killed and tied with unattractive bands

With the expectation that I would put them into a glass vase

And over the next few weeks be expected to watch them decay

 

The beauty of the Summer is always followed by the decay of Winter

 

I frequently weep

When I look at ancient photos

Of beautiful women

As I am aware

That their beauty is now dust
