Lytton in the Cornfield

On the day of the children’s party I was washing the dishes in the large kitchen

When I saw Lytton walking through the cornfield towards the house

He was wearing a pale suit and a wide brimmed brown hat and had been hired as the children’s entertainer for the day

I found this strange as he was a well-known biographer

So I decided to record his visit for posterity

But I could not find my camera as the house was so large

It had been built in 1876 at the same time as the railway which had partially funded its construction as land had been sold near to the hills

Later when sitting near the ventilation shafts I saw Lytton returning to his farm

He was carrying these notes under his arm

My name is Agnes Sorel
