The Memorable Adventures of Phillip and Judy

Phillip and Judy had always liked the village clock which stood proudly in the middle of the green next to the tennis club where their mother and father were playing bowls.

They would often lie on their empty stomachs for hours just to hear the eleven chimes of the day.

Phillip and Judy would often discuss the number of nails that had been used in the construction of The Red House which stood on the brow of the hill facing The Blue House and about a mile south of The Brown House.

Phillip was of the opinion that no nails had been used in the construction of The Red House due to its age. Judy disagreed noting that nails had been used in antiquity and only the quantities used varied between the coloured houses of the village.

Phillip and Judy often spent time at the village railway station which had been closed some fifty years before. Trains still called at the station as the buffet was still open and serving home-made cakes.

Phillip’s favourite was the Almond Sponge whilst Judy favoured the Lime Cream Scones.

Neither Phillip nor Judy knew anything of war although they had read about it in the illustrated magazines that were used as wallpaper their bedrooms.

Judy liked the New World conflicts whereas Phillip preferred civil wars.

When war came to the village both Phillip and Judy hid in the windmill and padded their bedding with white feathers.

After the war ended they both attended the victory parade.
