Miss 91 was my art teacher who once a year would help us to decorate parts of The Ride in preparation for the annual award of The Judges

The Judges were normally friends of hers from the theatre as before becoming a teacher she had trained to become an actress

I do not know why she was called Miss 91

Nobody did but is was rumoured that it was because she was given to running everywhere

From my room I could often see her running near to the old railway tracks that led to the mainline

She was normally to be seen in her canary yellow track top and red running shorts

The Ride had its own railway station which was little more than a halt until just before the last war and it was partially financed by the school for the convenience of teachers pupils and visitors alike

The outbuildings can still be seen but as I have noted earlier trains no longer stop there
