Desmond had decided to visit a charity shop
As he had seen a book in the window
It was as he was purchasing this book
That the assistant a lad of about twenty
Told him that he had a good British accent
Which was nice as he had difficulty in understanding others
Desmond who was English apart from a Spanish line
Thanked the boy and said that he had enjoyed the compliment
He suspected that the young man suffered from Asperger’s Syndrome
Which mattered little to him as he had appreciated the gentle exchange
Like me Desmond was a poet who did not like reading his work aloud
He preferred that his poems were read quietly with little or no theatre
And rather disliked Performance or Slam Poetry which he considered vulgar
His partner Jane disagreed with him saying that poetry had no boundaries
Desmond was considering this when he noticed that there were two moons in song
