As I was escaping from a fire

I found that I had a choice

Of two sets of stairs

Both led to the street and obvious safety

One was painted in the colours of the rainbow

Red orange yellow green

Blue indigo and violet

Whereas the other was painted grey plain grey

I chose the latter as I do not care for bright colours
