The wife of a lost captain
will hide in the sand

1/ Dona Leonor was the wife of Manoel de Sousa and was shipwrecked with him on the great galleon San Joao off the land of Natal in 1552. After much hardship they were attacked, robbed and stripped by the natives. Dona Leonor ashamed to be seen naked concealed herself with her long hair and buried herself in the sand. She did not move from the hole and died shortly after.
