Hungerford White Horse

A life size white horse dating from the 1960/70s can be seen in the yard of an antique establishment in Hungerford, West Berkshire.

It has been there for some months, quietly weathering but this process of decay has raised some fundamental questions.

1 Now that you are gone will I only see the rough grasses on Bratton Brow when I travel by train?

2 Did the Lady Godiva have to walk naked through the fair streets of Coventry without you and was this to the distress of her footwear?

3 Why do Wiltshire horses always lean to the left and not the right, are there Marxist/Maoist overtones to this positioning?

4 Do migrating horses send postcards to those left at home or are they careless in their security?

5 As they fly south do they pass over the Spanish city of Valencia?

6 If it was within the equine calendar to write poetry, would all the presented works be called              JET   BLACK   BLUE ?
