Lady Lovibond
If you look out to sea you may witness
The Lady Lovibond sailing low across
The silk sand wastes
Do not regret her final voyage
For she will return and thank you
For your kindness
The Postal Light
The postman cycled along the sea road with his heavy bag full of letters and parcels awaiting delivery to all parts of the small town
But there were none for the sea so at the end of his round he sat on the pier and wrote a love letter to the sea
When it was complete he placed it into a perfumed envelope and dropped it into the nearest post box
I will enjoy my round tomorrow
He whispered to a gull as he rode home for his breakfast
Deal Kingfisher Blue
I looked at the sea through my tinted windows
It was a kingfisher blue
As it always was
When I looked through these windows
To avoid disappointment
I never ventured out
Preferring to stay indoors
Until the day of the fire
When I was evacuated onto the beach
Where to my pleasant surprise
The sea had retained its kingfisher blue
