Bristol Green
I was staying with you at a jade hotel in the centre of the city
Before our journey home I left you in the shower
As I wanted to photograph our train
Which was lucky for me
Because it was the Bristol Green
Camera Obscura
From the camera obscura
I could see you naked in the bedroom
The late summer light was highlighting
The lavender love sheets
To a great effect
Camera Obscura
As we were making love
On the lavender sheets
I could see the camera obscura
In the shadows on the hillside above
I knew that we were being watched
The Centre of the World
You always wore my engagement ring
On a silver chain around your neck
As we walked around the city
You noticed that the chain had slipped
We considered the love token gone
But as you bathed later that day
You found my ring
Hidden in the centre of your world
The Storm
On the second Wednesday of August
A terrible storm hit Bristol
Parts of the city were flooded
But we remained dry
As we had sheltered under Miss Henley’s petticoats
Temple Meads
Whilst waiting for you at the railway station
I drank coffee and sang slave songs
To the green oysters
Who presented me with emeralds
When their supplies allowed
