Antonia Alice
Was visiting St Vincent’s Bay
When a summer storm suddenly broke
The skies darkened and began to rumble
And lightning flashed here and there
Oh Happy England
She said
Oh Happy England
See the seats of the kindled fires
The trees have lost their breath you know
She sheltered in a church with a three sided spire
As watched as the rain poured
From the ancient gutters
On to graves older than the church itself
Oh Happy England
Oh content bay
Oh perfect county
On this stormy day
Later when the rains had passed
She walked along the perfumed lanes
Damp but smelling of the season pure
Soon she was met by her aunt and cousins
And was welcomed by each
Oh Happy England
She said
Oh Happy England
