The Melksham Poems

Miss Caroline Stratton

Where have you been?

I have waited so long for you to join me

What is Heaven like sweet Charlotte?

It is everything you thought it might be and much more

So much more

I now have knowledge of all the mysteries of time and the universe

Nothing is hidden

Do take my hand sister and I will assure you of your gentle passage

When Miss Caroline Stratton died in 1949 she was buried in the same grave as her sister Charlotte who died in 1847

Melksham Market Place

The market place in Melksham is currently being remodelled and is surrounded by a number of orange safety barriers

I was told that the improvements are due to be completed by the summer of 2017

In 1914 an American army unit spent some time in the market place

Neither the soldiers then nor the contractors of today were aware that under the market place there is a long railway tunnel

Which is often used by angels with beautiful skin as they transport the souls of the dead towards Heaven
