Sun Kissed

Clive and Marina had been on the island for just over a day

They had spent time on the beach but had returned to the villa as the sun was fierce

Both were now sitting under large parasols on the edge of the blue swimming pool

I did not realise that Greece was so hot

It can get hotter than this

It is lucky we have a private pool

I think I will live in it

Did you like the beach?

It was lovely but it was such a furnace

Marina dived into the pool

She hardly made a splash

On a wet street in Paris

Marina waited for the CEO

To drive by

She would have one shot maybe two

In Tel Aviv Marina found herself

Teaching English

To young Israeli’s

In a language school

Marina swam the length of the pool underwater

Come on Clive

Come in for a swim

It will cool you down

Marina watched the CEO’S car

As it made its way through the automatic gates

She raised her pistol and squeezed the trigger

The windscreen shattered

And the CEO slumped back into his seat

She shot him again between the eyes

I told you that I would get my revenge

She muttered as she walked away

Marina was surprised how quickly her pupils

Picked up the English language

In return she was teaching herself Hebrew

Clive remained on the edge of the swimming pool

He watched his wife as she swam elegantly

From one end of the pool to the other

A car full of cops raced past Marina

Towards the headquarters of MAK Industries

She smiled sweetly

At a newspaper vendor from the Maghreb

A fellow teacher asked Marina out for a coffee

She told him that she was married

And that her husband was in France

As they lay on the loungers

Next to the pool

Clive and Marina

Shared a French newspaper

That contained a report about the assassination

Of Jean (Jack) Blessed

That had occurred outside the Paris headquarters

Of MAK Industries

In Paris Marina disposed of the gun

In a trash can outside of a fast food outlet

The gun was clean

And was to be collected by two Mossad agents

Within the hour

In Tel Aviv Marina went for a coffee

With David Ben Soutine

As he had told her that he was gay

He gave her the details of her next hit

As they shared a second coffee

Two days later whilst Clive was completing his canvas

Marina made an excuse and made her way

To the far side of the island

Where she shot a shipping magnate three times in the head

She shot him again between the eyes

I told you that I would get my revenge

She muttered as she placed the clean pistol in his lifeless hand

Marina returned to the villa and swam in the pool

She and Clive had planned to eat out

But the assassination had caused a stir

And they were advised by a handsome Greek cop

To eat at home until it was safe

In Tel Aviv as he lay next to a man he hardly knew

David Ben Soutine was reading the poetry of Avraham Stern

But he was thinking of Marina

Who was to be his next hit

He had not questioned his orders

But was confused as to their intent

After making love to a delighted Clive

Marina lay on the couch

Covered only by a sheet

She was reading the poetry of Avraham Stern

But was thinking of David Ben Soutine

Who she had been asked to kill

She had not questioned her orders

But was confused as to their intent
