Asked Little Gillian as she watched a procession of heavy lorries passing her farm
An industrial estate was being built on the edge of the village near the abandoned railway station
Which was now being used as one of the many site offices
The cutting near the ponds has now been infilled
It has been filled with the spoil from the abused meadows
An access road will soon obliterate the history of the area
Little Gillian’s father tapped his pipe on the farm gate as he always did when he was sad
