One day quite by chance Thomas found a bullet
On a raised walkway above the sea
The find alarmed Thomas so he hid the bullet in his jacket pocket
He then made his way to the salt sand flats where he met Lucy
Who was feeding the visiting black headed gulls
Thomas enjoyed watching his friend feeding the gulls

For reasons that I cannot specify in this poem
When she had finished Lucy shared a pink lemonade with Thomas
Who showed her the bullet that he had found
They examined it with care and then buried under the rock of a thousand patterns
It would remain there until a decision had been made to assassinate the King
