The question I always ask myself

Is quite simple

Indeed it is the simplest question

Ever devised by man

My question was

Am I a grasshopper

Or a washed up poet

I looked like a washed up poet

As I was scruffy and in good need of a shave

But I have learned the appearances can be deceptive

So I did not totally trust my reflection

Was I actually a grasshopper

That thought it was a washed up poet

Or was the opposite true

The only thing that I found out during this painful period

Was that that even the simplest of questions

Are the hardest to answer
