The Garden That I Love

You are as nice as your house
I am homeless
What are you reading
Madonna’s Child by Alfred Austin
Who is Alfred Austin
Was
Who was Alfred Austin
An English poet who was the Poet Laureate for a number of years
My Great-Grandfather knew him well
Alfred Austin fell asleep on the 2nd of June 1913
Exactly fifty years later I travelled to Bishops Stortford
To see my Paternal Grandmother
That is not the only connection
As Alfred died in Ashford in Kent
Ashford is about half an hour by train from Deal
May I spend the night with you
It is going to be cold tonight
About five degrees
We can share this doorway
You can have Ravens blanket
Raven
My dog
Where is Raven
He is dead
I am sorry
He was hit by a truck during the summer
What is your name
Marcus
My name is Veronica
I used to live in a garden
That I loved dearly
But became homeless last year
It is hard
I agree
Do you read poetry often Marcus
Not very often
Do you like Austin’s poetry
Yes
Was the book a gift
No it was thrown at me by a Danish student
