Noemie K

I found an angel on my pillow last week

She told me that Jesus was in the next room

And so he was

He was not dressed in white robes as I expected him to be

But in dirty overalls and a red bandana

You look more like a steelworker than the Son of God

He smiled

That is because I am a steelworker

I have been a steelworker for the past seventeen years

I offered him a coffee which he gladly accepted

The purpose of his visit was to make me happy

As I was sad

My mother and three friends had died in the past year

Without beauty the world is nothing

I said brushing away a tear

Why do you think that Noemie K

Because it is true

Without beauty there is nothing

Nothing at all

The steelworks have destroyed this town

Which was once so rural

Young men have corrupted lungs

Due to the vile gasses released

There is a smell of death

Even I might have been contaminated

There is no beauty in Noemie K

Jesus asked me for a refill of coffee

And then left the house

I thought I had offended him

Until I realised that he had left his angel in my bedroom

She was not a pretty angel and was quite plump

Her facial features were agreeable but that was all

Many would have considered her plain

But to me she was the most beautiful angel that I had even seen

And from that day onwards I was no longer sad
