The road ahead is mainly clear yet from time to time it becomes covered in sand

This does not inhibit my progress as my vehicle was designed for these harsh conditions

My home is about an hour away and I cannot wait to take a bath as I feel sweaty and tired

I visit the city twice a year to meet with my publisher and to discuss future projects

Occasionally he travels into the desert to stay with me but I think that he misses the city

He tells me with a certain humour that some of my readers think I am completely mad

Yet others understand my need for space and solitude when I am writing

I am aiming to complete my seventh novel by the end of the year and will deliver the manuscript

When I next visit the city which usually means that I stay in a hotel for a week or so

This is the part of my life that I do not care for as I miss the desert and my remote home greatly
