Poems from Folkestone

All Things Super

All things super

All things bright

Someone has killed the violets

And taken flight

This is a case for Duxbury

Julia Fey

Julia was watching the eclipse

She was the only person

In the crowded street

That had noticed

The situation of the sun

Little did she know

That in the next five minutes

She would meet Duxbury

Who would be the love of her life

Bairstow’s Eyes

Bairstow saw so much during the days of war

That he found it hard to adjust to peace

In his dreams he was still at war

And woke up each morning

With sweat soaked sheets

Whose humidity reminded him

Of the bloodied uniforms of his dead friends

It was whilst staying at The Metropole in Folkestone

That he met the woman who changed his life

Her name was Maria Lys Lys
