You had sent me a letter two weeks previously

Which detailed your missionary work

In some filthy tropical hellhole

How I admired you risking war and disease

So that you might help others less fortunate

 

I am not a bad person but I am a lightweight

Things have always been too easy for me

I have been published and am a talented artist

But I come and go never staying anywhere for long

Although talented I have no application none at all

I write poems and paint for fun just to be liked

My talents are God given and should be shared

That is what I tell people with a false modesty

Knowing that they will love me even more

 

I have borrowed Henry’s apartment

Which has views to France on clear days

Sadly the sea mists have descended

But they will clear and I will soon stroll

Along the long wide paths

Thinking of you my dear sister

Francesca is such a pretty name
