I am recovering from an eye operation and am resting in a darkened room

Although improving my sight will take a while to return

My daughter recently travelled to Suffolk and purchased a grey tee shirt for me

Which I have chosen to wear in this terrible place

The garment I am told has an illustration of a number of paint brushes in a melted pot

There is also a quotation from the artist Francis Bacon which reads  I painted to be loved

I was very touched by this gift and have arranged for my daughter to be given a banded pebble

This was the final pebble that I found on the beach before my operation

It is safely stored in a cellophane bag to ensure it is not damaged or scratched
