I am recovering from an eye operation and am resting in a darkened room

Although improving my sight will take a while to return

A kind friend has installed a music centre in this space

And I often listen to the classics plus some popular music

But of late I have heard screams terrible screams from those about to die

I am of the opinion that these are returning from history

Perhaps from the concentration camps of the last major war

Many people consider me anti-semitic and that this is my blind punishment

But that is far from the truth as my grandmother was Jewish

And I consider her race one of the most beautiful in the world
