We had decided to have a free morning

And spent it on the sandy beach

Swimming and adoring the sun

At about noon we went to the violet beach bar

And sat under the palms

Enjoying our ice cold drinks

We chatted for a while to a German couple

Who had travelled from their home in Dresden

A few days before our arrival on the island

An hour or so later we retired from the beach

As the day had become rather hot

And shopped in a orange bookstore nearby

We planned to spend the evening reading in our room

Instead of watching the sun set as it made us both a little sad

Jane was reading a book with a red and indigo cover

Whilst mine was blue yellow and green

Both were French thrillers
