On a visit to China some years ago

I met a leftover lady at a railway station

We were instantly attracted to each other

And after some difficulties she came to England

Where we reside to this day in Royal Leamington Spa

Although God has not blessed us with children

We are devoted to each other and share many interests

I call her my lotus flower as she is small and delicate

She calls me her strong Englishman because of my height

I never knew what a leftover lady was until I met my wife

And thank God each morning for our meeting as I might have never met her

If my train had not been delayed by the inclement weather further down the line

She had been at the railway station to meet her sister who also had been delayed

An hour either way and we would have been unaware of each other

And it is likely that we might have remained single as were both quite shy
