It was because of my residence of this station

That I went to college and later met Jane

I can remember the morning well

It was the Morning of the Goddesses

When I was introduced to two poets

Fun’ya no Yasuhide and Fun’ya no Asayasu

We shared tea and discussed my future

They said that my learning was not at an end

And that given time I would write great poetry

In the late summer of that year I started college

And the rest is history that has been recorded elsewhere
