From Lisbon to Vladivostok

What are you reading Anna

From Lisbon to Vladivostok

It is book by John Paul

What is it about

The author discusses

The United States of Europe

Hence the title

That will never happen

Too many conflicting ideas

But in theory it could

Let me explain

If you look at this swimming pool

What do you see

Water

I agree

If you consider the diving board end of the pool as Lisbon

And the end nearest to the summer house as Vladivostok

What is the main thing that joins them

Water

Correct and this is where John Paul is coming from

Look at the surface of the pool what do you see and feel

Unity calmness and a sense of order maybe

If a terrible storm hit La Piscine it might cause the waters to boil

But in time when the storm has passed then the calmness will return

If you jump into the pool then you will shatter its construction

But only for a short while and then again the calmness will return

We can learn a great deal from the waters of a simple swimming pool

On another level John Paul splits people into three groups

The extremists on the right and left and the people of the middle ground

What in your opinion is the largest group

The people of the middle ground I would imagine

Spot on and if the ship in stable then it will not lean in either direction

You are always going to have extreme factions in every country

But the negativity they cause is much outweighed by middle ground

I agree but what if the peoples of the middle ground disagree

To see things from a different perspective in only human

Debate must be encouraged and if an agreement is not reached

Then both sides should respect the others position

For the common good should be the starting point

If lets say your country was flooded with wheat fields

And other countries were blessed with root crops

Then these countries and others with rich resources

Would trade for the common good

That is quite logical

Just imagine the title once again

From Lisbon to Vladivostok

I think the author is being too simplistic

Maybe but what is everything when you strip it back

Tell me Anna

It is simple even the most complex mathematical problem is simple

When it is stripped back into its component parts

And that is where the complexities lie

As humans we do not trust simplicity

Indeed we are terrified by simplicity

What is John Paul’s conclusion

He is hopeful but doubtful at the same time

John Paul has Utopia in his eyes

But is that a crime

In some peoples eyes yes

They thrive on chaos as it causes a vacuum

And it is then when the structure is broken

That they invade sometimes with guns

But more often with words
